Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. Join TrueBlue, JetBlue’s rewards program, and you’ll be able to rack up points toward future award flights. You'll also earn tiles toward Mosaic elite status based on spending with JetBlue and select partners or spending on a JetBlue credit card.

Earning your way up the elite ladder means access to money-saving benefits including free same-day flight changes, free in-flight alcoholic beverages, fewer fees, more points on flights, free checked bags and more.

So how do you become a JetBlue Mosaic member, and why would you want to? We break down the requirements and benefits of earning JetBlue Mosaic elite status.

Changes to JetBlue's elite status program in 2023

JetBlue's loyalty program, the TrueBlue loyalty program, got a major overhaul in May 2023. In the past, the airline offered just one tier of status (with the brief addition of Mosaic+ for 2022), but as of May 10, 2023, JetBlue loyalists can now work their way up four tiers of Mosaic status.

Along with four status tiers, JetBlue introduced tiles, a new concept for points earning, as well as awards you get to choose called "Perks You Pick".

Among the biggest changes to JetBlue's elite status program for 2023 include:

Tiles: For every $100 in qualifying purchases spent with JetBlue and some of its travel partners like American, you earn one tile. You also earn one tile for every $1,000 spent on JetBlue credit cards. The more tiles you have, the higher the elite status you attain.

Four elite status tiers: Speaking of attaining higher elite status, there are now four levels of elite status: Mosaic 1, Mosaic 2, Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4. Mosaic 1 is earned through 50 titles (so $5,000 in JetBlue spending, $50,000 in JetBlue credit card spending or some combination of the two). Mosaic 4 requires a far heftier 250 tiles. Each status tier offers increasingly more benefits (which you can read more about here).

Perks You Pick: You only need 10 tiles ($1,000 in JetBlue spending or $10,000 in JetBlue credit card spending) to earn your first 'Perks You Pick' reward, which allows you to choose benefits like early boarding or bonus points.

Read on to learn more about what the new JetBlue Mosaic elite status program is all about.

What is JetBlue Mosaic?

Mosaic is JetBlue's elite status program. There are four tiers of elite status, each with the name Mosaic followed by a number to indicate the level of elite status you have. To get started on your quest toward JetBlue elite status, you'll have to sign up for the TrueBlue rewards program.

Once signed up, you earn JetBlue rewards and get closer to elite status by flying or spending enough on JetBlue’s credit cards. Like most airline elite status programs, the more you fly and spend, the more rewards you get (and the higher you'll climb in the elite status ranks).

With JetBlue, you're working toward two things: Mosaic tiles and TrueBlue points.

Mosaic tiles: The more tiles you have, the higher your elite status. You earn tiles by flying with the airline or spending on a co-branded airline card, and — once you reach Mosaic status — your points earnings are amplified.

TrueBlue points: TrueBlue points are what you actually need in order to book future flights for free.

Once you've earned JetBlue Mosaic elite status, you keep it for the rest of the year you earned it and the entire next year. So if you earn Mosaic status in September 2023, you would have status for the remainder of the year and all of 2024.

How to get JetBlue Mosaic elite status

There are four levels of JetBlue Mosaic status you can earn. Here’s how to achieve elite status with JetBlue:

  • Mosaic 1: Earn 50 tiles.

  • Mosaic 2: Earn 100 tiles.

  • Mosaic 3: Earn 150 tiles.

  • Mosaic 4: Earn 250 tiles.

Here’s how the earning rates break down:

  • Earn one tile for every $100 spent on travel booked through JetBlue (that includes JetBlue Vacations, Paisly by JetBlue, JetBlue fees and JetBlue add-ons).

  • Earn one tile for every $1,000 spent on JetBlue credit cards.

Earning JetBlue TrueBlue points vs. tiles

This is where things get a tad confusing, as you'll want to earn both JetBlue TrueBlue points and tiles because they are different and serve different functions:

TrueBlue points: TrueBlue points are earned when you fly on a JetBlue or partner flight, purchase a JetBlue Vacations package, use a qualifying JetBlue credit card and a bunch of other ways.

When you fly with JetBlue, you earn 3 points per $1 when spending on JetBlue flights. However, if you fly on the lowest fare class (Blue Basic), you will only earn 1 point per $1. If you’re purchasing your flight on jetblue.com, your point earnings will double.

If you’re making your purchases with a co-branded JetBlue credit card, such as the JetBlue Plus Card, you will earn additional JetBlue points based on that card’s earning structure.

Mosaic tiles: Mosaic tiles are what you need to climb the elite status ranks. As you earn points through spending, you'll also earn toward tiles (albeit at a slower rate), but only when you've cleared the tier tile thresholds noted above will you move to the next status tier.

Mosaic tiers at a glance

Here are the four tiers of JetBlue elite status, how to earn them, and some of the top benefits:

Tiles needed to earn

Spending needed to earn that many tiles

Top benefits (higher Mosaic tiers include all of the benefits of lower tiers)

Mosaic 1

50.

$5,000 on JetBlue travel.

  • Priority boarding.

  • First two checked bags free.

  • Beer, wine and liquor.

  • Even More Space at check-in.

  • Same-day switches.

  • Priority security and dedicated check-in lines.

Mosaic 2

100.

$10,000 on JetBlue travel.

  • Complimentary upgrade to Even More Space seats during booking (pending availability).

Mosaic 3

150.

$15,000 on JetBlue travel.

Mosaic 4

250.

$25,000 on JetBlue travel.

  • Two additional upgrade certificates

  • Credits for four complimentary seats on Blade Airport helicopter transfers between Manhattan and JFK or EWR.

JetBlue's Mosaic 1 tier is basically the same as the old, singular existing JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic elite status level. NerdWallet’s annual valuation of elite status programs determined that Mosaic elite status ahead of the May 2023 program change would have cost $6,329 to earn and is worth $1,987.

From there, the expansion from two to four tiers adds a few more benefits for Mosaic members who wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach Mosaic+ status. And for the ultra-big spenders, JetBlue’s helicopter transfer benefit could be a pretty posh way to land right in the heart of the Big Apple.

JetBlue Mosaic benefits

Signature Perks

Signature perks can be enjoyed by all Mosaic status holders, from Mosaic 1 through Mosaic 4, but some are only granted when you reach designated status tiers.

Standard Signature Perks

Signature perks available to Mosaic status holders regardless of tier are as follows:

  • The first two checked bags are free for you and up to seven people on your itinerary (excess, oversized and/or overweight baggage fees will still apply). You also get a free carry-on and personal item.

  • Free same-day flight changes on all fares (including Blue Basic) for you and your traveling companions on the same itinerary.

  • Beginning 24 hours before departure, you can upgrade to Even More Space seats.

  • An expedited line at security checkpoint at some airports.

  • Early boarding and a dedicated boarding lane at most airports.

  • Perks when traveling on American Airlines due to the partnership between American and JetBlue. Perks include two free checked bags, free Main Cabin Extra seats, free same-day flight changes, dedicated check-in, priority boarding and expedited security.

  • Complimentary alcoholic beverages onboard.

  • Earn up to 9 points per $1 on flights. You earn 3 points per $1 on all JetBlue flights and an additional 3 points per $1 if you book through the JetBlue website or app. If you already have Mosaic status, you will earn an additional 3 points per $1. If the flights are booked in Blue Basic, you will earn 1 point per $1 and an additional 1 point per $1 if you book on JetBlue’s website or app.

Additional Signature Perks

As Mosaic members move up the elite status ladder, additional perks will are unlocked:

  • Upgrade to Even More Space at booking (Mosaic 2).

  • Book any fare and upgrade to Mint at no extra charge with Move to Mint. Ability to upgrade depends on availability, with a limit of four times per status period (Mosaic 3). Mosaic members will get two additional Move to Mint certificates upon reaching Mosaic 4.

  • Get credits for four one-way BLADE Airport helicopter transfers between Manhattan and New York-John F. Kennedy or Newark (Mosaic 4).

You also get additional benefits in JetBlue’s other branches, including Paisly and JetBlue Vacations. For example, if you make a car rental from Avis or Budget through JetBlue’s sibling website, Paisly, Mosaic members earn 200 points per rental day, up to five days (rather than the 100 points that all other TrueBlue members earn).

You’ll get Mosaic perks for the rest of the year in which you qualified, plus the next calendar year. For example, if you earned Mosaic elite status in May 2023, you’d get to enjoy the benefits until Dec. 31, 2024.

Perks You Pick

In addition to standard perks, Mosaic elites get to choose an additional perk to add to their roster of benefits when they first reach Mosaic 1 status and each time they level up thereafter. Perks You Pick include:

  • Priority access to Mint Suites on select aircraft, pending availability.

  • FoundersCard Blue membership.

  • Free travel for pets on eligible JetBlue flights.

  • $99 statement credit on JetBlue Plus Card or JetBlue Business Card.

  • Get or gift a bonus 20 tiles to boost your earnings toward the next status tier.

  • Get a bonus of 15,000 TrueBlue points.

Like Signature Perks and Mosaic status in general, Perks You Pick are valid from the date they were earned through the end of the following year.

Perks for TrueBlue members

One of the biggest upsides to the TrueBlue loyalty program is that members can start earning perks even before reaching the first tier of Mosaic status.

With every ten tiles loyalists earn from 10-40 tiles, they can select one of the following perks:

  • Early boarding with Group B.

  • Priority security lanes at select airports.

  • One free, in-flight alcoholic drink.

  • 2x points bonus on earnings from purchasing a JetBlue Vacations package (valid only on one purchase).

  • 5,000 TrueBlue bonus points.

JetBlue status match

JetBlue doesn’t offer a status match opportunity like other airlines do. However, if you have elite status with American Airlines, you can enjoy some benefits on JetBlue through the Northeast Alliance partnership between both airlines.

Final thoughts on JetBlue Mosaic

Compared to other airlines, JetBlue’s TrueBlue Mosaic elite status is pretty straightforward, featuring a relatively simple tiered earning structure. It's a solid program that offers valuable benefits for those who fly with the airline often and want to get the most out of every trip.

Free checked baggage alone could save hundreds a year, but maybe the most alluring benefit for fans of award travel are the extra points Mosaic members earn for every flight they book. For those loyal to the airline, Mosaic is worth the effort to achieve.
